Bio: Nocturne is the junior corps of the MMW Performing Arts Organization, serving as the youngest marching opportunity for students in the West Michigan area.

Formerly known as 'Pride of The Lakes', Nocturne represents a focused evolution in identity and artistic vision. Built upon the same educational philosophy and performance standards as The Order, the ensemble is dedicated to developing young performers through immersive, concept-driven productions.

Nocturne is defined by a commitment to dark-themed shows, exploring shadow, tension, myth, and emotional depth through bold musical language and evocative visual design. These productions challenge members to engage with performance as storytelling—where atmosphere, intent, and precision are inseparable.

The ensemble rehearses at Jenison High School, a centralized and well-equipped rehearsal site that provides a stable home base for the corps. This environment allows for consistent instructional presence, reliable indoor and outdoor field access, and a structured rehearsal atmosphere, fostering strong ensemble cohesion while supporting member focus, safety, and quality of life.

Nocturne offers affordable, professional-level summer instruction for students of all experience levels, balancing accessibility with competitive intensity. Members are trained to perform with discipline, expressive intent, and a distinctly nocturnal identity—preparing them for the demands of higher-level marching arts.

Corps History - Season 2

Show Description

Nocturne — 2026 Production: Nightfall Requiem

Nocturne invites you into Nightfall Requiem, a season‑long exploration of night as a realm of poise, depth, and austere beauty. This production does not treat darkness as mere effect, but as elegance embodied — an atmosphere where shadow is refined, silence is structural, and the stillness between moments holds its own gravity.

In Nightfall Requiem, every breath, chord, and motion is deliberate, drawing the audience into an immersive landscape shaped by refined tension and quiet power. This is night not as absence, but as an internal world of clarity and weight.

2026 Repertoire:

Nocturne in B‑Flat Minor, Op. 9, No. 1 – Frédéric Chopin
Nocturne in C‑Sharp Minor, Op. 27, No. 1 – Frédéric Chopin
