Rehearsal practice question/feedback?

Do you like the current method of the daily rehearsals where you can attempt to rehearse as many times as you like - or would it be better to have a single try per day for points and depending on how well you do you get more points? For example if you score 100% then you get 100% of the points, if you score 40% then only get 40, and so on

I prefer what you are suggesting!

Either works, the only issue I'm seeing is sometimes the direction check %score is way off. It seems like if I miss one step or am early I get no percent points after that. Maybe that is the intention but it feels like I get it close to perfect and then get 0% sometimes. Not an issue with the current setup but with a one shot it would be annoying.

Same thoughts here as HydroTyrant - if the system were a little less janky/a little more clearly defined in terms of what will tank your score then it would be a good idea, but with the system as it is now, I think leniency is the way to go

Thanks, I will look into the direction game more and make it more accurate. I might make it shorter, I feel like it's a little too challenging right now

I'm also finding that a Pass/Fail system is pretty tough. I enjoy the mechanic itself, but it is probably too long and there's no partial benefit. It's just all or nothing which can just make me repeat the rehearsal until I get it. I've got a day job - it'd be nice to relax with this game and not spend five minutes reminding myself of tempos I was good at in college.

TBH, right now I just skip it.

This. I'm working a part time job, teaching high school marching band, running my new business, and will be teaching (possibly marching) wgi this upcoming season as well. I'm already spending time maintaining the three corps daily and adjusting things as needed, and really haven't found enjoyment in the new rehearsal system so far, it's just part of the daily work. I haven't even tried to do any rehearsals on days without access to a computer... my phone's screen doesn't respond well to input sometimes.

This season is my first experience dealing with this as I took last season off to hopefully be able to consistently field a corps season to season.

I like the idea overall, I just find it quite limiting given my personal hardware limitations. Might have a better phone in a few months haha! Ended up getting a 100% at 188bpm today!

The mechanism of dragging food ingredients to the boxes for the particular meal is really frustrating as a laptop player. Really difficult to accomplish in the allotted time when things don't do what my mousepad is trying to. The Direction Check and Tempo Game are still extremely frustrating...now I am penalized on my already limited Rehearsal Points for the day. Just expressing my opinions for what they may be worth. I love everything about DC:TG that you have built -- with the exception of these rehearsals. It doesn't make the game any more enjoyable, especially when I'm trying to keep the daily rehearsal streaks I've had since I joined the site. My brain won't let me give up lol. I want to keep my streaks. But I also don't want to spend 10 minutes dragging food ingredients o.O

Not writing off the game as a whole yet though -- going to see how it impacts my enjoyment and gameplay over the entire season.

I agree with the food one for sure! I think that one may just be too short for specific platforms. It plays well on desktop but I wouldn’t pick it on my phone for sure. I think maybe just increasing time for that one would be good

I worry now that I haven't gotten 100% on something, that I will have to reallocate my points EVERY time. The update made the act of doing it more fun, but I feel like it made other parts more tedious and time consuming... Not really wanting to have to adjust my sliders every day as apposed to on occasion depending on scores and how the season is going on, and I'm assuming what I had set for 100% will be reset next time. :(

Also hate that I'm forced to do direction change at least once every four days... Certainly the most broken and random feeling out of all of them. Feels like it is not rewarding correct steps whatsoever sometimes. In a way it feels like we're trying to make the game MORE difficult and time consuming while user retention appears to be an issue. Especially when the game has significant disadvantages to mobile players.

I can never get Direction Check right, so I lose out on streaks and the like whenever it's that challenge for me. I do share feelings with buglemania on those games.

Maybe a better way to encourage daily participation in the game is to have an issue the player as Director has to address for each active corps they run. No time limit, but an ethical or logistical prompt/issue arises and a couple of different options are available for the Director to choose from, each with a varying outcome. Some good outcomes could be improved member loyalty/health, a couple point boost to that day's practice/rehearsal plan, or a fuel additive making travel slightly cheaper for the next tour stop and a small refund on travel cost. Some bad outcomes could be lessened member loyalty/health, a couple point decrease to points for practice plan, or a cost for a decision. Neutral outcomes with no impact on those could also be an outcome.

I realize what I'm suggesting is incredibly more difficult and time consuming to implement -- but it popped in my mind tonight!

I do really enjoy this idea. Kind of help tells a story season to season as well.

Plus, quite believable lol. My sister was in Drama and Marching band, so her letterman's jacket at Lake Park said that, and I remember my new director making a joke that is always true.
